One thing I didn’t realize before coming to Denver was how far the airport is from town. The 30 minute ride to the hotel was unexpected and uneventful.

After arriving at the hotel we decided to grab a bite to eat. We walked down to Wynkoop Brewing Company. We had some great burgers and some outstanding beer. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. They also have nice outside seating so you can look on the train station while you eat.

After a good meal we walked around a bit and then headed back to the hotel to catch up on a few things.

After a while we decided to head out again and grab dinner. But we were having trouble deciding where we wanted to go. I normally like to give the hotel at least one shot at providing food so we check the menu on line and headed down to the restaurant. Unfortunately I can not say it was a great experience at the Hilton Denver City Center restaurant. My first clue was the fact that the menu on line and in the room was not what they were offering. They offering a reduced menu. It was so reduced that there really wasn’t much on it. But we persevered on and gave it a shot. We both ordered specialty cocktails. They came to the table looked pretty but that was about it. They had a unbalanced quality that ended up over emphasizing the booze.

The pain continued when the Creaser salad arrived. It didn’t look bad, but they did not dress it properly. I am not being critical but I should not have large globs of dressing in one area of the plate and undressed lettuce in others. Very disappointing. The worst part was the high price, even for hotel restaurants, that we paid. I would steer clear of this place.

So ends the travel day. Stay tuned for more observations from Denver.
