New travel suit case

I forgot to pay this earlier but I picked up a new hard side suit case for this trip.

We were looking online and keep seeing Traveler Pro coming up on recommendation list. They apparently were started by an airplane pilot made for frequent flyers. The first company to add spinning wheels.

We picked the Maxlite Air hard side case, in blue. We normally do soft side so we just wanted to try without going crazy. We also decided to go with the large size to replace an old America Tourister. We wanted something large and light weight for our longer trips next year.

We have high hopes for this case. We will keep you updated.

Eurika!

Left the hotel and walked down 6th Street. The locals call it Dirty 6th. We quickly found out why. There is a large number of dive bars and homeless people within a few blocks. We walked around looking for something to eat and ended up going to Eurika, which is at the start of 6th bar screen.

The food and service is great. The staff was very helpful and they made some recommendations that were spot on. We grabbed two salads. The Cobb salad and the steak salad. They were both great.

The real treat however is there whiskey selection. I was able to grab a flight of local whiskey to find some new likes.

The Driskill Hotel.

Touched down in Austin and headed to our hotel, The Driskill Hotel.

This is a beautiful hotel. It’s the second oldest hotel in Texas. It has a charm and elegance that you just don’t find anymore. If you get a chance you should at least visit the hotel next time your in Austin even if you can not stay here.

Coopers Barbecue

OMG This place is awesome. We grabbed some brisket and sausage and are already planning on coming back and we haven’t left yet.

You order your meats by weight and they are so good you don’t need sauce. The sides are cafeteria style, and great.

You really need to come to Cooper’s when you hit Austin. Oh did I mention the prices are reasonable? No well they are.

Good food reasonable price, what’s not to like.

Upper Deck

Decided to stop into another local bar in town. Stopped into the Upper Deck. It’s been going for years. Tonight I know why. The service was great and friendly. It is a place that gives you that local bar feel. We picked up some wings and beer. The wings were good and the beer cold.

New laptop and Smartwatch

For a while now I’ve been struggling to get my laptop to connect successfully to the internet. This has caused me to be very slow in posting to this side. As I would have to wait to get home for my trips in order to successfully post anything up. Now that is changing I recently ended up getting a Samsung Galaxy book 2 360. I wanted something lightweight and portable that I can take with me when I travel and then make it easier for me to post and transfer pictures from my phone. As part of the package I also ended up getting a new smartwatch, a Samsung Galaxy 4 Classic. Now I have been a long time user smart watches usually those made by Garmin. But it is nice to have an alternative to what I’ve been used to and again this will give me an interesting opportunity to give you guys some feedback on how the two day battery life works when you’re trying to get to see exciting and new experiences. Stay tuned and I will keep you updated on how both of these are working and as always don’t forget to bring your towel.

Another local treasure

So yesterday I suggested that you look in your local town. To find treasures or things to do that do not cost you a lot of money. Not to be one to not take my own advice went out today and found something in my local town to do. If you are in Cary North Carolina I would suggest you take a moment to stop by and see the Catechist Maximus art display at the Cary arts center.

Catechist Maximus

What is catechist Maximus you may ask? Well let me tell you. A digital artist has taken cats from around the world and place them in City scenes where they power over buildings and people.

To leave your house and go find something nearby that is new unique and different. And don’t forget bring your towel.

Local Town Outings

So tonight decided to take advantage of a local Town attraction. Our little town host the state’s symphony during the summer. So we decided to give it a shot. Let me just say it is a blast.

I know what your thinking. How is this helpful to me. Well I’m going to tell you. Nearly every town out there puts on activities for it’s residents. Go to your local towns website and look for events they put on. They are normally life cost and good for all ages.

But when you go don’t forget your towel.
